About Aion

The Aion fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) combines the elements of the principles of player versus environment or PvE and player versus player or PvP. The game is set in the fantasy world of Atreia and distinguishes itself from other MMORPG games by utilizing flight primarily for fighting other players or the common enemy, known as the Balaur. Other games usually use flight as a way to travel and during combat, the players are on the ground.

The Aion Background Story

The game is set in the world of Atreia that was created by the god Aion. This particular god had created both humans and the Draken, and the latter had the task of protecting the humans. However, the Draken sought to increase their power and tried to conquer everyone, including humans. From the Draken emerged the Balaur and five of them became very powerful and were called Dragon Lords.

When the Balaur rebelled against Aion, he was forced to create the Empyrean Lords to safeguard the Tower of Eternity, which is the source of all aether and the power of Aion. Humans called Daevas inhabit the area inside the barrier that protects the tower. They have wings and they are capable of fighting the Balaur because they have learned to use the aether.

An attempt by two Empyrean Lords to negotiate peace with the Dragon Lords failed, resulting in the division of the Empyrean Lords into the Shedim Lords and the Seraphim Lords. The Shedim Lords do not want peace with the Balaur and they inhabit the dark and upper part of the world. The human followers of the Shedim Lords are the Asmodians. Meanwhile, the Seraphim Lords inhabit the lower portion of the world that is filled with light. Their human followers are the Elyos.

Choosing Your Race In Aion

A player is given the option to choose whether he belongs to the Elyos race or the Asmodian race. The Elyos are beautiful and elegant people but they are criticized by the Asmodians for being weaklings. The Asmodians have adapted to their world by developing claws and manes and they are muscular. The Elyos criticize the Asmodians for having monstrous bodies and eyes that become red with anger.

Choosing Your Aion Class

After selecting his race, the player has to select from four main classes with each class having different characteristics:

Warrior - The warrior is the best with regards to close-quarter combat and they are also strong in a broad range of situations. They offer the benefit of being the easiest to master compared to the other classes. Upon reaching level 9, the warrior player is given an Ascension quest that will allow him to choose whether he wants to be a templar or a gladiator.

Gladiator - The gladiator focuses on dealing damage to his enemies. They are at the front lines during war. This kind of warrior is excellent in melee combat and can use the polearms as his weapon, unlike the templar.

Templar - The templar is capable of combining the use of both shield and sword. The main purpose of the templar is to apply his shield for the protection of his allies during combat. While the templar does not use the polearms, he can utilize the shield also as a weapon to inflict moderate damage and knock down enemies.

Scout - Unlike the warrior who is focused on attack power, the scout has to excel in agility, awareness, and speed. To ensure speed, he only has a light armor, which makes him very vulnerable to attacks. Upon attaining level 9, the scout undergoes an Ascension quest that will result into his transformation into either a ranger or an assassin.

Assassin - The assassin uses stealth and speed to attack unwary enemies with daggers and swords. He tries to keep himself hidden to be able to deal a deadly blow to an enemy. He has the unique capability to put patterns into his opponent and then jerking them suddenly to stun or destroy his enemy.

Ranger - The ranger is a master of killing from a distance. His main weapon is the bow but he can also create traps for unsuspecting opponents. He is a master of marksmanship to inflict damage or slow down an enemy from a distance. He also has the skills to kill several opponents at one time.

Priest - The priest has the task of healing and bringing back to full health a dying ally. Thus, the priest is always present when his allies go to war to ensure that they survive the deadly attacks of opponents. At level 9, he undergoes an Ascension quest to become either a cleric or a chanter.

Cleric - The cleric applies incantations to provide the healing power that his allies badly need. He can even revive a Daeva whose body and soul have already separated. He can also fight with a mace and shield during melee combat.

Chanter - The chanter trains both his mind and body in enhancement magic, attacking, and healing. He applies mantra magic to boost the moral of his allies. The staff is his favorite weapon.

Mage - The mage has very powerful attacks because of his ability to summon ice, fire, and tree roots to inflict damage on enemies. However, he is very weak in defense and must therefore be skillful in knowing when to escape. At level 9, he undergoes an Ascension quest where he chooses to become either a spiritmaster or a sorcerer.

Spiritmaster - The spiritmaster has the ability to call on the spirits of Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water to attack enemies directly. He can also indirectly use the power of the spirits by borrowing them to inflict fear or weaken the opponent.

Sorcerer - The sorcerer is a scholar, who often brings his orbs and books with him because they boost his power. He can freely use the awesome power of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water to destroy enemies.

The Aion End Game

Battles within the PvP zone characterize the end game for Aion. A group of players tries to take control of a particular castle and fight against other groups of players, including the computer-controlled beings.
