World of Warcraft, or WoW, is a new Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game, from Blizzard. WoW has become the #1 played game of all time, in any genre, on any system. Why? Because it is incredibly addicting!
World of Warcraft is similar to many other MMORPGs, but it has incredible graphics, and award-wining game play. The basic concept is generic; start as a newbie, and slowly work your way up the ranks. The best way to level up is to complete quests. Searching for and completing quests can be very time consuming, and there are so many to complete that you may feel overwhelmed at times. However, WoW is what is known as a Sandbox game, meaning that there is no set story line, and you can do almost anyting you want. If you do not feel like completing a quest, you could just explore the map, hang out with friends, raid enemy towns, or just chill. It is up to you.
World of Warcraft uses a fairly standard leveling system. You start as a level 1, with very little skill, gold, and items, and you slowly progress through the levels. Experience can be gained through quests or killing others (NPC’s or humans). The maximum level is 70, and it can take a very long time to reach 70. It is hard to say just how long it will take to obtain the maximum level, but you can expect to be playing for 3-6 months, or more, before reaching it. However, once you reach level 70 the game does not end. In fact, many people consider the true fun of the game to START when you reach level 70. Once you are the max level, you do not have to worry about leveling, and can focus on fun. Most level 70’s spend most of their time raiding or playing on PVP servers.
Quests, in essence, are tasks given to you by Non-Player Characters, or NPC’s. The NPC will give you a quest to complete, and once you have finished it, you will be awarded with Experience, which levels you up, or items, which can be used for future play, or sold. Quests range in difficulty and length. Many quests can be completed with the help of your friends, and can take many hours of non-stop game play to finish. You cannot save in the middle of a quest, so once you start a quest, you should complete it before you log off.
While quests make up most of the game, there is also many other things to do. A very popular activity on WoW is called raiding. Basically, there are two forces that make up the population, and they are constantly at war. The two groups are the Hord and the Alliance. Often, members of one group will get together, and go on a raid. During a raid, the group travels deep into the enemy forces territory, killing as many people as possible. Raids can be executed with very few people, but obviously you will do better if you have many people, preferable ones who are high leveled.
For those who enjoy fighting enemies, raiding is not the only option. There is also Player vs. Player (PVP) servers, where you can fight fellow gamers for fun. These servers allow you to combat other players, without organizing a raid. These fights are purely for fun, although, for competitive people there is a rank system, in which you gain popularity by defeating others.
There is really nothing to gain through PVP and raids, except a small amount of experience. PVP and raids are usually done for fun. Unlike many games, you do not loose anything when you die. When you die, you simply have to walk back to your body, and pick up your items. You cannot loose items or gold, so there is no need to fear dying.
The currency used in WoW is called World of Warcraft gold, or WoW gold. People who do not want to spend too much time leveling and making gold can simply purchase cheap wow gold from a virtual currency shop such as this site. Accounts are also bought and sold quite commonly. The process of leveling can be quite dull, and many people would rather pay real money in order to enjoy the game more. Accounts can sell for quite a lot of money, usually $100-$1,000+.
World of Warcraft is a very fun game, that provides seemingly endless entertainment. However, be warned; WoW is incredibly addicting. If you are considering playing World of Warcraft, just know that you will probably become addicted to it. There is literally thousands of hours of potential game play. I personally know many people who play WoW as much as humanly possible. In fact, people have actually died playing World of Warcraft! There have been a few cases, but the most commonly known one took place in October, 2004. A young girl living in China played WoW for several consecutive days, without stopping. She died of exhaustion, and possibly starvation and/or dehydration. As I mentioned, this is not the only recorded case of video game addiction leading to death. Most cases of video game addiction do not end in death, but rather a slow decrease in health. Many gamers are putting on weight, and their social life is slowly diminishing, as a direct result of video game addiction.
So before you pick up WoW, know that you are at risk. Even strong willed individuals have trouble quitting WoW. Personally, I put on a few pounds, but in my opinion the trade off was worth it! So what are you stilling reading this for...buy wow gold.
